intl has no date data for this locale: pattern formatting falls back to English, while relative, calendar and duration strings are localized.
The gallery is also a capability table: the do MMMM yyyy column shows native
intl pattern support, while the relative, calendar, duration and ordinal
columns show the localized hooks available to the formatter. A * beside the
locale code means pattern formatting uses the English fallback.
Lookup rules
- Codes are case-insensitive and accept BCP-47 tags:
zh-cn,ZH_CNandzh_CNare the same. - An unknown region falls back to its language (
vi_VN→vi), then to English. - When a call passes no locale,
DateFormatterConfig.localeis used, thenIntl.defaultLocale. formatkeeps the requested region forintl(en_GB,pt_BR) whenintlhas data for it.
